Who can publish with Industry 4.0 Science?
Anyone working in the fields relevant to us can submit their paper for publication. We require a doctoral degree as well as an affiliation with a public or private research institution for at least one of the authors listed. Authors may be affiliated with other entities, such as private companies, but should be aware that promotional content will be rejected prior to peer review.

Why should I publish with Industry 4.0 Science?
Industry 4.0 Science is the leading journal for all developments in the fields of 4IR and Smart Factory in both English and German. Articles are published online, as ePaper and as a print magazine (only German). We offer scientists and industry experts a platform to share their research and expertise and become a part of our growing community.

What should I write about?
Each issue has a thematic focus in line with our overall Aims and Scope (view the Editorial Calendar for detailed information about upcoming issues). Note that Industry 4.0 Science is aimed at researchers and professionals; articles with a strong practical focus may also be considered for publication in our affiliated trade journals FACTORY INNOVATION and ERP Management.

How should I structure my article?
To facilitate the writing and formatting of your article, we have summarized the most important requirements in our Author Guidelines. There you will find information on the scope of your article as well as on image use and author specification.

Can I publish my article as open access?
It is our priority to make your publication available to the wider research community. As members of Crossref, the leading international organization for the promotion of scientific exchange, we can offer our authors all the advantages of open access at a very competitive rate. What is the editorial process?
Each article undergoes an initial review for spelling, grammar, and expression. This is followed by a detailed peer review which, along with editorial criteria, plays a key role in determining their publication. If the article is accepted, it will be formatted for print, with the galley proof being sent to the author for a final check. Finally, the author gives their formal approval for publication in both English and German.

Can I also use my article in other ways?
To publish your article in our media, we need your formal consent. By doing so, you grant us exclusive publishing rights for the article in the year of publication and for one year thereafter. If this period seems too long to you, you can publish your article via our open access licenses including DOI.

How can readers access Industry 4.0 Science?
The most popular way to access Industry 4.0 Science paid content is via our subscription plans. Additionally, access to individual articles can be purchased with a one-time payment.

Does Industry 4.0 Science have an ISSN?
Not just one! As a bilingual, print and online publication Industry 4.0 Science has three separate ISSNs:
German: 2942-6154 (print), 2942-6162 (ePaper)
English: 2942-6170 (ePaper)

Does Industry 4.0 Science preserve its archives?
Yes. In accordance with the German National Research Data Infrastructure Initiative (NFDI e.V.), all our content is stored on servers at the University of Potsdam as XML, Plain Text, and PDF. Its release can be triggered any time and on very short notice. We thereby guarantee readers from around the world continued access to our publications even in the unlikely event of a permanent shutdown of our websites.

Does Industry 4.0 Science require authors to pay processing fees?
No, there are no article processing charges for authors. Industry 4.0 Science is financed mainly through open access licenses as well as reader subscriptions (both print and online).

Can I advertise with Industry 4.0 Science?
Yes. Industry 4.0 Science is committed to offering the best services for researchers and industry professionals at very attractive conditions. This includes the advertisement of conferences, books, and other activities aligned with the journal’s thematic focus. Sponsored content is not related in any way to editorial decision-making and is kept separate from research articles. We currently do not feature sponsored content on our Industry 4.0 Science websites—only in print magazines and ePapers.
